Dr. Shadrach Akpem, a veterinary doctor from Benue and founder of Vet Konect, has bagged a $10,000 award at the prestigious Global Innovate for Impact Challenge in the USA. His digital platform, Vet Konect, connects livestock farmers and pet owners with verified vets to improve animal healthcare and boost food security across Africa.
The competition, held by the World Food Prize Foundation, featured over 400 applicants from 65 countries, with Dr. Akpem emerging as a top finalist. This win marks a major milestone for African agricultural innovation and highlights youth-led transformation in animal health and entrepreneurship.
