Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has called on the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to step up regulation of online radio and TV platforms amid concerns over unchecked spread of unverified and inflammatory content. Speaking at the Africast 2025 Conference in Lagos, the governor highlighted the dangers posed by divisive narratives on religion and politics circulating on digital platforms, warning these threaten peace and national security.
Yusuf stressed that the current unregulated online broadcasting environment fosters misinformation and hate speech, urging the NBC to enforce accountability and ethical standards in digital media. His call supports his administration’s broader push for responsible media, digital literacy, and safeguarding public interest as Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape evolves.
