ABAKALIKI MAGISTRATE COURT REMANDS BISHOP ONYEAGOZIRI OVER ALLEGED SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHURCH MEMBER

The Abakaliki Magistrate Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of Bishop Onyeagoziri Ndubueze in the Abakaliki Correctional Centre following grave allegations of sexual abuse against a 22-year-old female member of his church. The court rejected the bail application, citing lack of jurisdiction, and transferred the case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for further advice, with the next hearing set for November 4.

Bishop Ndubueze faces multiple charges including threats to life, falsehood, fraudulent acts, and circulating pornographic images of the victim. According to prosecutors, the alleged abuse involved obtaining consent through threats and fraudulent means, violating several sections of Ebonyi State’s criminal and violence against persons laws.

The seriousness of the allegations has sparked widespread concern, emphasizing the need for justice and protection of vulnerable individuals within religious communities.
