The University of Ilorin is set to graduate a staggering 12,764 students this week during its 40th Convocation, a milestone that also marks the institution’s 50th anniversary of academic excellence. Vice-Chancellor Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, revealed details including 316 First Class honors, 1,520 postgraduate degrees, and a wide range of diplomas and professional certifications.
The week-long celebration features religious services, theatrical performances, and a convocation lecture titled “The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World” by former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, SAN. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to commission new faculty buildings, renovated hostels, and an Innovation Hub. Unilorin also boasts impressive research achievements with millions in grants and innovative student-led projects such as a cashless campus shuttle bus system.
