Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has joined well-wishers worldwide in celebrating former Nigerian Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon on his 91st birthday. Praising Gowon as a towering national figure and exemplary peace-builder, Mutfwang acknowledged his pivotal leadership that preserved Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty during turbulent times.
The governor highlighted Gowon’s iconic “No Victor, No Vanquished” declaration after the civil war as a timeless symbol of reconciliation and healing, and credited the famous Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation programme with restoring Nigeria’s socio-economic fabric. He lauded Gowon’s wisdom, patriotism, and diplomatic finesse and prayed for his good health, long life, and divine protection.
