The Lagos State Police Command has cleared the air on reports that Declan Ihekaire, who staged a solo #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Iyana Ipaja, was arrested. In a post on its official X account @LagosPoliceNG, the command explained Ihekaire was only cautioPostned to stay within legal bounds and avoid stirring unrest and was later released.
The police emphasized that teargas was used solely to disperse miscreants trying to hijack the protest and cause chaos. Commissioner of Police Mr. Olohundare Jimoh led operations aimed at reassuring residents of their safety. The state remains stable, with authorities urging residents to continue daily activities without fear.
