The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ramped up its driver’s licence production capacity to 15,000 per day as part of a concerted effort to clear enormous backlogs across Nigeria. Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed shared this during a visit to the VIP capture centre in Abuja, highlighting upgrades to printing facilities aimed at tackling delays in issuing driver’s licences and vehicle number plates.
The upgraded system, set to be fully launched this month, promises faster processing, improved data integrity, and reduced waiting times, thanks to enhanced technology and streamlined operations. Currently, 400,000 licences have been printed out of 800,000 backlogged applications, with over 200,000 ready for collection. The FRSC is urging all applicants to collect their documents promptly while emphasizing around-the-clock staffing to sustain these gains and ensure timely service delivery nationwide.
