The Edo State House of Assembly has received a directive from the state government to investigate two major projects Radisson Blu Hotel and the Edo Museum of West African Art (EMOWAA) initiated by former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration. The letter was read on the House floor in Benin, with Speaker Chief Blessing Agbebaku announcing plans to set up an ad-hoc committee for a thorough probe starting next sitting.
In related news, the Assembly is also set to screen nominees for the Edo State Judicial Service Commission, following a request from Governor Monday Okpebholo. The House passed a bill for the creation of the Edo Healthcare Regulation and Monitoring Agency (EDOHERMA), replacing an outdated 1984 law. The Assembly also honored the Oba of Benin on his birthday and anniversary, and mourned the late NSCDC Edo Commandant, Mr. Gbenga Agun.
