Over 139 million Nigerians live in poverty, but a new movement is rising! MOTiON, the Movement for the Transformation of Nigeria, unites citizens and advocacy groups to fight social and institutional poverty through democracy, accountability, and reforms.
Launched during the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty with a nationwide #PotsAndPans protest, MOTiON calls for credible elections, expanded social support, anti-corruption measures, and job creation. ActionAid’s Andrew Mamedu and MOTiON Convener Hauwa Mustapha emphasized the need for government responsiveness and citizen engagement to finally improve lives.
From rural areas to city streets, Nigerians are urged to join MOTiON to demand transparency, justice, and economic opportunities for all.
