KADUNA STATE MOVES TO ESTABLISH SAFE SPACES IN SCHOOLS FOR GIRLS’ PROTECTION AND EMPOWERMENT

Kaduna is taking steps to make schools safer and more inclusive for girls! The State House of Assembly has begun the process to pass a bill that will create and regulate safe spaces in schools, boosting girl-child enrolment, retention, and empowerment.

The proposed law will protect students from harassment, promote inclusivity, and ensure schools have training, reporting, and enforcement mechanisms to maintain safe environments. Unveiled during the Girls’ Education Summit in Zaria, the initiative champions girls as agents of change amid crises.

Kaduna’s leaders, educators, and advocates emphasize the urgency to tackle early marriage, school dropouts, and unequal opportunities, calling for increased investment and policy action to support every girl’s right to thrive.
