A new push for local pride and jobs! The Federal Government is launching a campaign to boost Nigerian-made products, aiming to strengthen manufacturing and cut import dependence.
President Bola Tinubu, speaking at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria’s Adeola Odutola lecture, revealed the campaign as part of the broader Nigeria First policy, projected to grow manufacturing by 6% and create 500,000 jobs in three years.
The policy’s backbone includes reforms like federal procurement prioritising local products, quality enforcement, better finance access, and infrastructure improvements. Industrialist Aliko Dangote stressed the need for it to become a binding national strategy with legal backing to survive political changes and drive real impact.
Manufacturers call for real commitment, consumer buy-in, and tackling infrastructure and energy challenges to make Nigeria First more than just a slogan, it’s a critical race for economic independence and global competitiveness.
