EDITORS SHIFT ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO NOVEMBER 12-13 — TINUBU CONFIRMS ATTENDANCE AS SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOUR

Nigeria’s top editors will converge on Abuja this November for what promises to be one of the country’s most consequential conversations on democracy, governance, and national unity with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu billed to declare the event open.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has announced a new date for its flagship event — the All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) 2025 — now slated for November 12–13, 2025, in Abuja.

In a joint statement signed by Eze Anaba, President, and Onuoha Ukeh, General Secretary, the NGE said the change was due to circumstances beyond its control, while assuring members and guests that the conference will retain its robust agenda and relevance.
“The Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors regrets to inform members, invited guests, and the public that due to circumstances beyond its control, the ANEC 2025 has been shifted to November 12–13, 2025. The venue remains Abuja,” the Guild stated.
The NGE expressed regrets over any inconvenience caused by the shift but assured that the high-profile gathering will remain a credible platform for dialogue on issues vital to Nigeria’s unity and development.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has confirmed his attendance and will declare the conference open as Special Guest of Honour, while dignitaries from the government, academia, media, private sector, and diplomatic corps are also expected.
This year’s conference will focus on the theme:
“Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors”
with a sub-theme:
“Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.”
A series of thought-provoking papers will be presented, including:

  • “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics” by Prof. Awa Kalu (SAN);
  • “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in a Challenged Nation” by Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, HOD, Political Science & International Relations, University of Abuja;

    An Executive Session on the second day will provide editors the opportunity to engage government officials, political actors, and business leaders on national issues.
    The Guild said that the conference is expected to draw over 500 editors and media executives remains a vital platform for promoting responsible journalism that fosters national cohesion, accountability, and progress.
