APC WOMEN’S GROUP URGES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO PASS RESERVED SEATS BILL FOR WOMEN

The National All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Advocacy Organisation (NAWA-ORG) is calling on the National Assembly to fast-track the Reserved Seats Bill, aiming to boost women’s representation in Nigeria’s political landscape.

NAWA-ORG DG Amina Kundiri highlighted that the bill would create 37 additional Senate seats and 37 new House of Representatives seats exclusively for women, alongside new seats in State Houses of Assembly. This bold move would bridge the glaring gender gap in governance, ensuring women’s voices are finally heard.

Kundiri praised President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Sen. Oluremi for championing the gender agenda. She stressed that empowering women is not about handouts but removing barriers, promoting fairness, and deepening democracy. The bill, a temporary measure for 16 years, promises to reshape Nigeria’s parliamentary makeup and drive inclusive leadership.

Supporters, including youth leaders, urge communities to reject political thuggery and drug abuse, calling for active participation of women and youth in governance for a brighter future.
