KANO SIGNS DEAL FOR TWO MAJOR SOLAR PANEL PLANTS TO BOOST RENEWABLE ENERGY

Kano is shining brighter on clean energy. The state just signed big deals to build two solar panel factories, positioning itself as a renewable energy hub and creating hundreds of jobs.

Kano State Government has inked agreements with Tricell Solar Solutions and IRS Green Energy Limited to establish solar panel manufacturing plants in the state. The deal was sealed at the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum 2025 in Abuja, with support from the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) providing technical assistance.

IRS Green Energy will build a 600MW solar plant, while Tricell Solar Solutions is set to establish a 500MW facility. Together, these projects aim to increase access to affordable, clean energy, boost local manufacturing, and create jobs in Kano.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima officially opened the forum, with REA’s Managing Director Abba Aliyu affirming ongoing collaboration to meet Nigeria’s renewable energy goals.

Kano’s government thanked REA and its private partners, pledging strong support to ensure the project’s success and cement the state’s role as a leader in Nigeria’s renewable energy future.
