ABIA GOVT TAKES ACTION ON UNPAID LABOUR DUES, PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NLC

Abia Governor Alex Otti is stepping up for workers! After a meeting with NLC President Joe Ajaero, the state commits to investigating unpaid check-off dues and supporting labour welfare.

During a visit from NLC leaders in Nvosi, Governor Otti directed top officials to look into the non-remittance of the statutory 10% check-off dues to NLC and ensure future compliance. He praised the state’s labour-friendly stance and revealed plans to clear 16 years of unpaid entitlements to families of deceased workers.
Responding to NLC’s request for a proper secretariat, Otti ordered land allocation and pledged full government backing for the project. NLC President Ajaero praised the governor’s people-centered leadership and called for funds to support labour operations, including an operational vehicle and direct dues remittance.

Abia NLC chairman Ogbonnaya Okoro lauded the administration for ending salary arrears and improving welfare for workers.
