President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to Nigeria’s labour movement and civil society on the death of veteran unionist and rights activist Comrade Abiodun Aremu. The revered advocate, known for decades of championing workers’ rights and social justice, passed away tragically on Sunday in Ota, Ogun State, after a road accident. Through his spokesperson, Tinubu hailed Aremu as a fearless comrade, teacher, and conscience of the people who inspired generations with his commitment to integrity and equity.
Tinubu also sympathized with Aremu’s family, friends, and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), ASUU, and civil society groups, calling the loss “painful” for those who shared his vision of a fairer Nigeria. He prayed for peace for Aremu’s soul and strength for his loved ones during this difficult time, remembering him as a selfless patriot and tireless fighter for the common good.
