The Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) has quashed rumors that its members are on strike. In a statement signed by top NAMDA officials, the union confirmed it remains active and committed to negotiating for better conditions for medical lecturers across universities and health institutions.
NAMDA highlighted ongoing talks with the government on key demands like implementing CONMESS salary structure and removing the compulsory PhD rule for promotion. The group also exposed attempts by some universities to block their Earned Academic Allowances, even calling in the DSS to investigate conflicting government letters.
While NAMDA supports fair union actions, it insists any strike will follow its constitution and warns of serious impacts on education and healthcare if it occurs.
