The Lagos State Government, through its Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has stepped up efforts to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) by inaugurating the Community Dialogue Committee (CDC). At the Monday launch, Executive Secretary Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, represented by Community Engagement Officer Ms. Adetoun Odumbo, said the initiative strengthens grassroots structures to identify, respond to, and refer SGBV cases effectively within communities.
The committee brings together key local leaders from traditional chiefs to youth and women’s group representatives, health and education officials, and survivor advocates from Mushin and Odi-Olowo areas. Head of Community Engagement, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, highlighted their roles: raising awareness, providing confidential support to survivors, documenting cases accurately, and acting as a bridge between communities and DSVA. Attendees praised DSVA’s relentless fight against SGBV and urged sustained expansion of advocacy across Lagos.
