In a dramatic showdown on October 9, Kogi State Vigilante Service operatives, teaming up with local hunters, rescued three kidnapped victims and killed three bandits in the forest near Suku village, Kabba-Bunu. After motorcyclists were attacked and residents kidnapped, the vigilantes swiftly launched an ambush that sparked a fierce three-hour gun battle. While the victims were freed, one hunter was injured but is recovering. KSVS Comptroller General Alhaji Sani Omeiza Ibrahim praised the operation as proof of their commitment to ending kidnapping and banditry in Kogi. With strong backing from Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the vigilantes vow to step up patrols and intelligence to keep communities safe.
The operation also sent a strong warning to criminals that their activities will no longer go unchecked, emphasizing that community collaboration is vital in protecting lives. The vigilante group continues to encourage residents to report suspicious movements to help sustain the gains made against violence in the state.
