The Nigerian Christian community mourns the loss of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, a celebrated evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), who passed away on October 6 at the age of 80. His family shared the news via his official Instagram, honoring his over six decades of fiery preaching, dynamic teaching, and miraculous ministry that transformed millions across Nigeria and the world. Known as a spiritual general and founding father of faith, Ukpai was also a devoted husband, father, and mentor whose life was a powerful testament to God’s love and power.
Born in 1945 in Abia State, Ukpai overcame a challenging childhood to become a leading voice in Pentecostalism, co-founding the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. His ministry extended beyond preaching through faith-based institutions like the Uma Ukpai Eye Centre and Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, blending spiritual revival with social impact. As he rests in eternal peace, his legacy remains a beacon of hope, healing, and faith worldwide.
