The Federal High Court in Ibadan has postponed the adoption of written addresses to October 14 in a case filed by Kayode Bello, a University of Ibadan postgraduate student, who is challenging the university for denying him access to the students’ portal needed for registration. Bello, representing himself, alleges victimisation by university authorities despite having been admitted since 2021 for a Master’s in Communication and Language Arts and having made all necessary payments. He claims this ongoing denial is linked to past protests during his undergraduate and law school days, which led to suspensions and continued harassment.
Justice Nkeonye Maha admitted documents from both parties and set the new date for filing written addresses. Bello’s lawyer and the university’s counsel, Mr. Ladapo Ladosu, who earlier argued uninformed of court hearings, are expected to present their arguments. Bello’s case highlights ongoing student frustrations over access and treatment at the university.
