The Lagos State Government has re-arraigned billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, famously known as Evans, before an Ikeja High Court over the alleged murder of two police officers. The trial, previously handled by Justice Adenike Coker, was transferred to Justice Oyindamola Ogala. Evans and his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, faced an amended five-count charge including murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy related to kidnapping. Both pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution alleged that Evans and Emeka killed Officers Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi on August 27, 2013, at Festac Town, Lagos. Evans is already facing multiple criminal cases, with convictions on two of them. The case, tied to serious violations under Lagos State Criminal Law, is set to continue on November 19, when witness summons will be issued.
