Tempers flared at Kano’s Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday when Shooting Stars stunned Kano Pillars with a 94th-minute equaliser. Fans erupted in anger, storming the pitch and attacking referees, officials, and players. Security had to fire teargas to calm the scene as chaos took over and several officials barely escaped harm.
Kano Pillars management condemned the violence, assuring that troublemakers were quickly caught and will face a 10-season ban from the stadium. They called on fans to stay peaceful and uphold the spirit of football going forward.
A tense reminder that passion for the game can boil over, but respect and safety must come first.
