ANNA ODE, MISS NIGERIA 1965, TO BE HONORED SIXTY YEARS LATER

Sixty years after being crowned Miss Nigeria, octogenarian Anna Ode from Uhonmora in Edo State is finally set to receive formal recognition from her community. The announcement came from Chris Ojo, organiser of the annual Owan marathon, who revealed the honour will take place during the 5th edition of the race on January 3, 2026. Anna Ode, who won Miss Nigeria at 22 and has since dedicated herself to helping widows and the needy in her community, will also launch the first Mr and Miss Owan contest. Ojo highlighted her lasting influence, saying her legacy still inspires even the younger generations. The marathon event is expanding into a cultural festival to attract investment and will feature top athletes from Nigeria and beyond, aiming to spot and nurture local talents for global success.
