The House of Representatives has decided to investigate the National Examination Council (NECO) over claims of extra-budgetary spending without proper approval. The probe follows a motion by Rep. Amobi Ogah, who stressed that NECO must be accountable for its internally generated revenue as a government agency.
The investigation will cover NECO’s budget performance, bank statements, and remittance to the federation account from 2023 to date. The Committee on Basic Education Examination Bodies has been tasked to report back within three weeks.
