DELTA GOVERNMENT APPROVES ₦10BN TO CLEAR PENSION ARREARS, BOOSTS INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

Delta State has approved ₦10 billion to settle overdue pension liabilities from past administrations, fulfilling Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s promise to ease pensioners’ hardships. The decision was announced following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme.

A special committee will ensure fair disbursement of the funds to deserving beneficiaries, part of the government’s M.O.R.E Agenda to enhance citizens’ welfare. The council also fast-tracked key infrastructure projects including the Agbor and Ughelli flyovers, shortening their completion timelines to ease mobility and boost the economy.

Other decisions included terminating non-performing contracts to guarantee value for money and approving housing construction for judges in Asaba and Warri, supporting all government arms with better accommodation.
