In response to residents’ outcry, AMAC Chairman Christopher Maikalangu has ordered the immediate suspension of the radio and television tax on residential houses within the council area. The move came after feedback showed the new levy was causing widespread dissatisfaction among homeowners.
The tax, initially meant to fund developmental projects and improve community facilities, will now only apply to commercial establishments like hotels, restaurants, and offices. Maikalangu emphasized the need for fairness and transparency, promising a full review of the policy and clearer communication through official channels.
