A historic campaign unites vaccines and child health services to combat measles, rubella, and polio nationwide.
Nigeria, supported by WHO and partners, began one of its largest integrated vaccination campaigns targeting 106 million children against measles, rubella, and poliomyelitis. The two-phase campaign started in 20 high-risk northern states plus Oyo, with expansion to southern states in January 2026. Health workers will reach every community via fixed posts, outreach, and house visits. Alongside vaccinations, the drive includes malaria prevention and treatment for neglected tropical diseases, supporting Nigeria’s universal health coverage goals. Officials praised frontline workers and called on parents to ensure all children are vaccinated safely.
