Nigeria’s Paralympic bronze medallist, Eniola Bolaji, has secured her spot in the finals of the First Abia Para Badminton International Tournament in Umuahia after a dominant 2-0 win over Cameroon’s Danyele Mouafo. Ranked second globally in the SL3 category, Bolaji made history at the Paris 2024 Paralympics as the first African athlete to win a medal in para badminton.
Fellow Nigerian Chigozie Nnanna also triumphed in the men’s singles SL4, beating India’s Kuldeep Mahkul, and teamed up with Obinna Nwosu to win in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 category. The tournament features 114 players from 13 countries, with fierce competition leading up to the finals on Sunday. Next up is the All Africa Para Badminton Championship, also in Umuahia.
