NAWOJ FEMALE FARMERS THRIVE WITH SACK FARMING IN BAUCHI

Simple sack farming boosts nutrition, income, and empowerment for women journalists.

Female members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Bauchi are celebrating high yields from sack farming, an initiative promoting backyard gardening and better nutrition. Beneficiaries like Maryamu Bala and Amina Ahmed have harvested cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and cabbage, providing fresh, cost-saving vegetables for families. NAWOJ Chair Rashida Yusuf sees the project as a powerful media story and a path to women’s empowerment, supported by training from the Rural Urban Women Green Initiative.
