MSF SOUNDS ALARM ON CRITICAL MEDICAL SUPPLY SHORTAGES IN BORNO

Surge in malnutrition and measles strains Maiduguri health facilities amid funding gaps.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) urges Nigerian authorities and aid groups to urgently address severe shortages in medical supplies and staffing across Borno, especially Maiduguri. Following a sharp rise in malnutrition and measles cases, MSF nearly doubled bed capacity at Nilefa Kiji Hospital and treated over 3,200 malnourished children. However, reduced humanitarian funding and partner withdrawals have limited outpatient care. MSF works with the state ministry to support local healthcare centers, but warns that ongoing supply and logistical challenges threaten vulnerable children’s survival.
