Arrest of three suspected Hamas operatives prompts fresh calls for stricter citizenship laws.
German conservative lawmaker Alexander Throm has proposed that dual citizens convicted of terrorist acts in Germany should face simpler citizenship revocation. This follows the recent arrest of three suspected Hamas operatives in Berlin, including naturalized Germans born in Lebanon and Syria. The suspects reportedly procured firearms intended for attacks on Israeli and Jewish sites within Germany. While German law currently allows citizenship revocation for those joining foreign terrorist groups, Throm argues this should extend to terror acts committed domestically. Hamas denies any connection.
