Nigeria’s push for self-reliance advances with homegrown HIV drug manufacturing launch.
The National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) and La Shipson Pharmaceutical Ltd have finalized plans to locally produce HIV drugs by early 2026. Following a recent MoU and a delegation visit, the initiative aims to fill healthcare gaps caused by reduced international aid. The project will boost access to life-saving medicines, create jobs, transfer technology, and upgrade NBRDA’s lab and research capabilities, supported by partners and investors committed to Nigeria’s health sector growth.
