Myanmar prepares for aging society with pensions, tech-based care, and social support expansion.
Myanmar commemorated the International Day of Older Persons in Nay Pyi Taw, highlighting advances in healthcare and rising life expectancy. The 2024 census estimates over 6.1 million people aged 60+, projected to double by 2050 to around 13 million. The government is boosting support through financial aid to nursing homes, social pension programs, and tech-driven elderly care. Donations and medical supplies were also provided to attendees, reflecting a commitment to improved well-being and dignity for the aging population.
