IJAW NATIONAL CONGRESS DEMANDS NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON RESOURCE CONTROL

INC calls for justice, true federalism, and control over resources on Nigeria’s 65th Independence.

The Ijaw National Congress (INC) has renewed its call for a sincere national dialogue to address core issues like resource control, true federalism, and the rights of Nigeria’s diverse nationalities. INC President Prof. Benjamin Okaba highlighted the Ijaws’ historical grievances—rich oil resources in their lands but enduring poverty and environmental harm. He condemned half-measures like the Land Use Decree and Petroleum Industry Act, urging a return to Nigeria’s founding federal ideals. The INC demands justice, environmental protection, and political self-determination for the Ijaw people.
