Preserving the true national flag is key to unity and patriotism during Nigeria’s milestone celebration.
Ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the FCT Directorate of the National Orientation Agency (FCT-NOA) urged citizens to uphold the original Nigerian flag designed by Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi—three vertical stripes of green, white, and green with no symbols. FCT Director Acharu Opaluwa warned against the widespread display of wrongly designed flags with unauthorised features that undermine national identity. He called on traders, motorists, institutions, and media to join efforts in promoting authentic symbols, fostering patriotism, unity, and respect for Nigeria’s heritage as the nation celebrates this historic milestone.
