WORLD HEART DAY 2025: NIGERIANS URGED TO “DON’T MISS A BEAT”

Take charge of your heart health—every beat counts in the fight against cardiovascular diseases.

The Nigerian Heart Foundation (NHF) marked World Heart Day 2025 in Lagos with a call for Nigerians to adopt healthier habits and take responsibility for cardiovascular health. NHF Executive Director Dr. Kingsley Akinroye stressed the role of governments, communities, and civil society in promoting heart health. Highlighting hypertension as Nigeria’s most common heart disease, experts urged improved health insurance coverage, awareness campaigns, and lifestyle changes like better diets and more physical activity. The NHF is rolling out month-long activities including exercise challenges and free health screenings to empower Nigerians to protect their hearts.
