UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT CALLS FOR ACTION ON PEACE, CLIMATE, AND REFORM

Baerbock urges turning global dialogue into concrete solutions for a divided world.

Closing the high-level week of the 80th UN General Assembly, President Annalena Baerbock highlighted the UN as the “house of diplomacy and dialogue” amid today’s global challenges. Over six days, 189 countries, including 124 heads of state, addressed critical issues like protracted conflicts, climate change, and institutional reform. Baerbock stressed the urgent need to act on peace and protect civilians, warned against exploiting famine and sovereignty violations, and emphasized advancing the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. She urged support for Secretary-General Guterres’ reforms to make the UN stronger, more effective, and focused on delivering tangible results that serve the world’s most vulnerable.
