PHARMACEUTICAL SOCIETY OF NIGERIA SEEKS DRUG MANAGEMENT AGENCY IN ANAMBRA

New agency proposed to fight counterfeit drugs and ensure safe, affordable medicines for all.

The Anambra chapter of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has called on the state government to establish a drug management agency to tackle the spread of substandard and counterfeit drugs. PSN Chairman Emeka Okpala made the appeal during the 2025 World Pharmacists Day in Awka, praising the state’s ongoing construction of the Coordinated Wholesale Distribution Centre at Oba, Idemili South. He emphasized the need for full implementation of the National Drug Distribution Guideline, envisioning a state where medicines are safe, affordable, and pharmacists lead public health efforts in prevention, treatment, and recovery.
