NLC ORDERS FULL MOBILISATION, PREPS FOR STRIKE AGAINST DANGOTE GROUP

Labour Congress vows decisive action over Dangote Refinery’s “anti-worker crusade” and mass sackings.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has ordered all affiliate unions to mobilise immediately and prepare for industrial action in response to Dangote Refinery’s alleged sack of over 800 workers and rejection of union rights. NLC President Joe Ajaero condemned the refinery for violating Nigeria’s Constitution and International Labour Organisation conventions by suppressing unionisation, calling the facilities “plantations of exploitation.” The NLC demanded affiliates establish Action Mobilisation Committees within 72 hours and coordinate union drives across all Dangote sites. The move follows PENGASSAN’s nationwide protests and signals heightened labour resistance against anti-worker practices. Unity, resource mobilisation, and collective resolve are non-negotiable as the NLC prepares for a decisive campaign to protect workers’ dignity and rights.
