Presidency calls Jonathan’s past “disastrous,” warns Nigerians won’t forget as 2027 race heats up.
The Presidency, through Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, has slammed former President Goodluck Jonathan’s prospective 2027 presidential run, calling his tenure “disastrous” and a huge hurdle for a comeback. Reacting to Jerry Gana’s claim that Jonathan would run under PDP, Onanuga dismissed this as “delusional,” highlighting Jonathan’s economic mismanagement and corruption during his 16 years under PDP. While affirming Jonathan’s legal right to contest, the Presidency is confident President Tinubu’s strong economic reforms and achievements will outshine Jonathan’s legacy. Jonathan is also warned of possible constitutional hurdles and political abandonment mid-race, just as in 2015.
