Archbishop Paul Gallagher urges united action on stability, youth empowerment, and humanitarian aid in Africa.
At the UN General Assembly, Archbishop Paul Gallagher of the Holy See stressed the resilience of African youth and the need for international backing through investments in education, health, and governance. Highlighting progress in African democracies and ongoing challenges like authoritarianism, conflict, and poverty, he called for shared responsibility to tackle forced migration, violence, and economic hardship. He praised peace agreements in Congo but voiced concern over conflicts in Sudan and South Sudan, urging immediate ceasefires and sincere dialogue. Gallagher also emphasized global unity against conflicts like in Ukraine and advocated for a recommitment to the UN’s core principles in addressing today’s crises.
