ABIA READY TO HOST 150 ATHLETES FOR HISTORIC PARA BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS

First Abia Para Badminton and All African Championships set to showcase world-class inclusive sport.

Over 150 athletes from 13 countries will compete at the First Abia Para Badminton International and All African Para Badminton Championships happening simultaneously in Umuahia. Hosted at the International Conference Centre from Sept. 30 to Oct. 12, Abia boasts West Africa’s first wheelchair playing mats and world-class facilities to ensure a fair and equitable playing field. Alongside the tournaments, a Para Badminton workshop will certify coaches and players, boosting the sport’s growth across Africa. Nigeria debuts as the third African country to host para events, highlighting its rise as a continental hub for inclusive sports.
