NIGERIAN HISTORY REINTRODUCED AS COMPULSORY IN BASIC EDUCATION TO BOOST NATIONAL UNITY

New curriculum aims to inspire pride, patriotism, and responsible citizenship from early schooling.

The Federal Government has reinstated Nigerian History as a mandatory subject from Primary 1 to Junior Secondary 3, integrating it with Civic Education under “Civic and Heritage Studies.” Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa credits President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the reform, which seeks to foster national identity, unity, and civic responsibility among young Nigerians. The ministry plans teacher training and resource support for successful implementation.
