ZIMBABWE DRIVES ENERGY TRANSFORMATION WITH $9BN MINING-LED INVESTMENT

Mining boom powers Zimbabwe’s push for greener, expanded energy capacity by 2030.

Zimbabwe plans to invest over $9 billion in power projects to boost capacity to 5,432MW, with nearly half from renewables. Mining — the top energy consumer fueled by lithium, gold, platinum, and diamonds — is also a key investor, launching solar and captive plants to ease grid pressure. The country aims to become a regional energy hub via enhanced links in the Southern African Power Pool.
