Vital airlifeline for northeast Nigeria’s humanitarian crisis halts, putting millions at risk.
The UN Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS), operated by WFP, has suspended its fixed-wing flights in Nigeria due to lack of funds. For nine years, UNHAS provided crucial transport for aid workers and supplies to conflict-hit Borno and Yobe states. The suspension threatens emergency food and nutrition aid for 1.3 million people, with WFP urgently seeking $130 million to sustain relief efforts. Without $5.4 million needed to resume air service, humanitarian operations risk being cut off from vulnerable populations.
