TINUBU SET TO SPARK NASARAWA’S LITHIUM BOOM WITH 6,000MT PLANT LAUNCH

Nasarawa’s lithium game just got supercharged! President Bola Tinubu is gearing up to cut the ribbon on a shiny new 6,000 metric ton lithium processing plant – doubling the state’s latest lithium firepower and sending a strong signal to global investors eyeing Nigeria’s clean energy future.

Governor Abdullahi Sule has revealed that President Bola Tinubu will soon inaugurate a cutting-edge lithium plant in Nasarawa State, built by Chinese investors, right after the President returns from his trip to France. This new facility, located in Nasarawa Local Government Area, boasts a capacity of 6,000 metric tons – twice the size of the 3,000MT plant commissioned in 2023.
In a private meeting with Tinubu at Aso Rock Villa, Sule confirmed that the plant is ready to roll, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s push into the green energy market. Lithium, a key ingredient for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage, is drawing a lot of foreign attention, and Nasarawa is positioning itself as a lithium hub to watch.
The governor praised the Tinubu administration for creating a fertile ground for investment, citing improved revenues and a move away from reliance on bank loans. The new lithium project is just part of a string of China-backed ventures grounded in robust mineral assessments, while plans are underway to turbocharge agricultural growth using fresh funds and growing investor confidence.
Nasarawa’s lithium future looks bright—and double-sized. The countdown to inauguration has begun.
