OVER 23,600 STILL MISSING IN NIGERIA, LEAVING FAMILIES IN ANGUISH — ICRC

Thousands of Nigerian families, mostly women, endure pain and uncertainty as loved ones remain missing amid conflicts.

The ICRC reports that 23,659 people remain missing in Nigeria, impacting 13,595 families—68% of whom are women and 59% were minors when they disappeared. Yobe State records the highest cases. The ICRC continues to support reunifications and offers psychosocial aid, urging authorities and communities to act responsibly, clarify fates, and support affected families while calling for global solidarity to end the torment of uncertainty.
