SUB-STANDARD PREPARATION, BELOW PAR ACCOMMODATION HITS YOUTH GAMES IN ASABA

Young athletes at the 9th National Youth Games face unsafe, unhygienic living conditions amid poor accommodation arrangements.

Teams from Plateau, Rivers, and Kwara states condemned the accommodation at Dennis Osadebey School in Asaba as dirty, unsafe, and lacking electricity and water. Coaches and officials voiced frustration over the environment, no mattresses, and lack of basic amenities, with some athletes forced to consider sleeping inside the stadium. Attempts to get a response from the Local Organising Committee failed.
