FG PROMISES PASSPORTS WITHIN ONE WEEK AS FEES DOUBLE SEPTEMBER 2025

Say goodbye to long waits and corruption—Nigeria’s passport processing set to be faster and more secure than ever.

Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo revealed plans to cut passport delivery time to under a week, part of sweeping reforms to end delays and eliminate racketeering. Thanks to a new centralized printing center, passports can now be vetted and printed within 24 hours after enrolment.

Following a 100% fee hike starting September 1 (N100,000 for 5-year, N200,000 for 10-year passports), the reforms also remove approval powers from passport officers to curb corruption. The government vowed to protect the integrity of Nigerian passports and crack down on illegal possession by foreigners.
